Dear Sir Kofi Annan
The chairman of unfastened nations
Dear Sir by the news I informed that you will have a traveling to Iran, I found this big chance to write about my husband’s unknown situation who is imprisoned in the cell in the Evin Jail with very serious problems. By this way I want to notice his story and asking help from you to investigate his situation.
My husband Mr. Ahmad Batebi who arrested on 9 July 1999 in course of events of attack of police to student’s dormitory of Tehran University. He arrested in the demonstrations of students in order to protest against to this bloody none humanly action by regime of Iran. By Close session of first courts, He was sentenced to a capital punishment of death penalty and then it was reduced to fifteen years imprisonment, which was not fair utterly.
Six years of his best time of his life been passed in jail so far. After six years in Jail with physical and psychological torture, he met several critical health conditions, he was judged by hospital and the judiciary department as very serious, and they granted him a conditional leaving for appropriate cure. He was on treatment since that time until on 27-07-2006 unknown armed persons raided our home, conducted a house search and after they limited us، confiscated some of our personal property and then they arrested him.
He went to hunger strike in order to protest against about his unreasonable re-arresting. But hunger strike made his health condition more serious as his physician Dr.Hesam Firoz noticed by a report that my husband life is in danger especially if he continues to his hunger strike and so if hi don’t leave the jail for treatment he may die.
Regretfully it passed more than one month since my husband arresting and all of my trying had not any affect for his situation by means of going to the Evin jail and sending the letters to persons in charge of judiciary system of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Just two times I met him and appointed persons of jail were present around us and therefore we had not our rights for speaking. Because of stopping of treatment and pressures of cell of jail he was not in good physical and psychological condition. He had lost his weight so much and he seems so sick and wan that made me so depressed how I can never forgot.
Ahmad Batebi has not the first human rights of people. He is not in right to visit or call his lawyer also since now judiciary system did not notice the reason of his re-arresting. He also is not in right to access to specialists physician for treatment.
Dear Sir Annan
As you know Mr. Akbar mohammadi who had a similar condition as my husband went to hanger strike in order to protest against his re-arresting and after nine days hanger strake passed away in Evin jail. I am afraid that hard pressure in Ahmad Batebi would have the same bad fate.
I have honor to want from you as a high-ranking for human rights in the world for helping us in your traveling to Iran to form a human rights committee for consider to my husband situation and so all political prisoners that they have first human rights and can live in freedom.
Best Regards
Somieh Baiyenat, wife of political prisoner student.
